This is England 86' - Can Shane Meadows pull it off?

Scheduled to air in September 2010, This is England 86' is a new four-part television spin-off drama which revisits the characters from the film This is England three years on.
This is England is a 2006 gritty, realistic film set in the 80's about a group of young, fun-loving skinheads who recruit a young boy Shaun to their gang. Soon after, past friends rejoin the gang and begin to corrupt Shauns mind with their racist views which leads to terrible consequences.
The award winning film was both shocking and memorable and there are many doubts as to whether This is England 86' will be an enjoyable continuation of the film.
The new TV series is set in 1986 and follows the gangs struggles of finding employment and adulthood.

Director of both the film and the new series, Shane Meadows says -

"When I finished This Is England I had a wealth of material and unused ideas that I felt very keen to take further, audiences seemed to really respond to the characters we created and out of my long standing relationship with Film4 and Channel 4 the idea for a television serial developed. Not only did I want to take the story of the gang broader and deeper, I also saw in the experiences of the young in 1986 many resonances to now recession, lack of jobs, sense of the world at a turning point. Whereas the film told part of the story, the TV serial will tell the rest."

I am attending a preview of the new series and a Q and A Session with Shane Meadows and Cast at the British Film Institute in London on 25th August which you can buy tickets for below.
