One of my favourite (if a bit silly) films I've seen this year has to be Whip It!
Drew Barrymores light-hearted directorial debut is about Bliss Cavendar (Ellen Page), a small town, outcast, texan teenager who discovers the crazy world of Roller Derby - a fast paced contact sport involving roller skates, oval tracks and player names such a Grievous Bodily Charm and Fox Sake.
Throughout the film Bliss proves herself to be an amazing Roller Derby skater and despite lack of support from her friends and family at first she soon changes their minds.
Backed up by an amazing soundtrack by artists such as The Ramones, Peaches, Tilly and The Wall and Little Joy plus the added bonus of Juliette Lewis taking a starring role in the film, I was suprisingly entertained by Whip It!
The film was avaliable in the UK from 16th August and you can buy it major high street stores and online.
